preface

describing somewhere as "the middle of nowhere"

is the result of the speaker having no lived context of place.

the concept is tied closely to capitalism, class, and colonization.

it is

the romanticization of

the entitlement to

the dismissal of

a place and land because it is not perceived as a centre of capital, so therefore it is "nowhere".

but what does it mean to be in “the middle of nowhere”?

i have some thoughts on this, and over the next twelve months you might find out.

this project would not be possible with support from artsnl, grenfell art gallery, and the vanl-carfac mentorship program. thank you for the time and space i needed to build this project into what it is, and what is to come.

special thanks to megan samms for her generous mind, time, and encouragement as i pulled together ideas and tested waters.

thanks as well to stephanie lipp for her tech support, matthew hills for his patience and trust, and zach healey for showing me how to cut stuff out on photoshop.  and of course, to my pop lloyd walker for always texting me back.
